Women's Soccer drops 4-0 Match on Saturday to Lewis & Clark

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas women's soccer team (1-4) dropped a 4-0 match versus Lewis & Clark College on Saturday evening. Dallas is 0-2 on its current home stand of five games, and will conclude the third match of the Dallas Challenge on Sunday.

The Lady Crusaders battled in the first half, trailing only by one at intermission. Overall in the game, Lewis & Clark outshot the home team 20-5. This included a 7-0 difference in the opening frame.

Neither team began with many opportunities, as the first shot attempt was a header for the Pioneers' Anna Thorndike at the 16:05 minute mark. Sophomore Elena Naccari (Covington, La.) picked up one of her six saves for the result.

Early into the 39th minute, Dallas would allow a goal by Ella Turkot from Sarah Schoville on the assist to break the tie.

In the second half, L&C swung the momentum with two goals within 14 second span. Thorndike scored at the 51:21 mark. Kylie Carera pushed the edge to three a few moments later. Rochelle Jordan and Megan Ratfield talled assists on the respective scoring results.

The offense for Lewis & Clark was concluded Jordan provided an unassisted goal at the 59:56 point of the match. The Pioneers garnered 10 corner kicks, with nine in the second half.

Sophomore Lauren Hood (Bedford, Texas) kicked two shots with one on goal for the Lady Crusaders. Freshman Kathryn Zepeda (Lynnwood, Wash.) landed the other shot attempt on goal for UD. She has attempted a shot in three of the last four games, accumulating five overall.

Other players tallying shots for Dallas were sophomore Mackenzie Vasile (San Antonio, Texas) and freshman Mariana Burciaga (Forney, Texas). Vasile added to her team-high seven shots on the campaign.

Thorndike led Lewis & Clark with six shots and put half of them on goal. Turkot contributed three, while Isobel Fikso, Carera, and Emily Thompson also kicked multi-shot games.

Kelley Koeppen (3-0) worked 90 minutes and picked up two saves in the goalkeeper position.
