UD Women's Lacorsse Picks Up First Win of 2020 on Sunday

CONWAY, Ark. - The University of Dallas women's lacrosse team defeated Culver-Stockton College in a neutral site match hosted by Hendrix College on Sunday. Emily Pauletti (Dallas, Texas) led the team in scoring again with four goals, and the Crusaders jumped out to an early lead to guide head coach Kaitlin Cochran to her first collegiate victory.

Pauletti got the Crusaders (1-3) on the board around two and a half minutes into play. Jordyn Buell (Murrieta, Calif.) found the back of the cage at 21:09 and then UD got a trio of goals from 18:50 to 12:10 to finish off the 5-0 run. Isabella Flynn (Seattle, Wash.) and Teagan Walsh (Chevy Chase, Mo.) found their first collegiate goals during that span. Flynn assisted Walsh on her goal for the team's lone assist. Pauletti added her second between the freshmen duo.

Culver-Stockton (0-3) got on the board with 10 minutes left on the game's only successful free position shot by Ally Frazier. Dallas went 0-of-9 and Culver-Stockton was 1-of-4.

UD made the most of its 12 shots to its opponents five in the first 30 minutes, scoring seven goals to go up by five at intermission.

Alley scored a hat trick for Culver-Stockton and had the first goal early in the final half to slash the margin to four, but the Crusaders pulled away in the final ten minutes thanks to goals by Flynn, Buell, and Pauletti in that order.

The Crusaders recorded a season-best 33 goals with 26 on target. The team held a slight edge on ground balls, 33-31, won 10 of the 16 draw controls, turned the ball over fewer times at 45-29, and caused 22 compared to 19.

Ann Rushing (Brighton, Mich.) scored the other goal for UD and was part of a trio leading the contest with eight ground balls. She had four caused turnovers. Gabby Dixon (San Diego, Calif.) was the leader in caused turnovers with five and also had eight ground balls. Buell finalized the ground ball leading trio. Lizzy Elfet (Brookfield, Wis.) won six draw controls. Lizz Winkler (St. Charles, Ill.) was not as busy in the cage making three saves. Gillian Gaffney (Hershey, Pa.) made her season debut.

Jace Murphy had 16 saves for Culver-Stockton. Marieme Sall notched the other goal of the game, assisted by Andrea Ayala-Guzman. The opposition to UD placed seven-of-nine shots on target.

The squads combined to field 25 players in the match.
