Aurora tops Women's Lacrosse on Thursday

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas women's lacrosse team dropped an 18-3 decision on Thursday to Aurora University. The Spartans improved to 2-2 with their second win over the week down in Texas, thanks to scoring nine goals per half. Dallas was able to find the back of the cage all three times in the first half, but were not able to halt a four-game slide.

Things were scoreless through the first five minutes until Ellie Blake broke through at 24:44. Another pair of goals followed in 40 seconds to lift Aurora to an eventual 6-0 advantage.

Lexi Leite (Houston, Texas) was able to follow her first shot that was saved by Reilly Armstrong with another attempt on the rebound that found the back of the cage with 10:48 before intermission. Erika Keever kept her scoring streak going this season with a tally two minutes later to narrow the margin 6-2.

After another three goals, Emily Pauletti (Dallas, Texas) claimed the Crusaders final goal of the contest in under a minute. The Spartans led 9-3 at the half and were able to extend the lead to double-digits at 22:28.

Leite posted a team-high four shots with three on cage. Avery Finch (Jamul, Calif.) and Keever also produced two-shot games, as UD was outdone 37-11 on overall attempts and 31-8 on shots on goal. Dallas held a 13-9 groundballs advantage in the first stanza, but would be edged 22-20 overall. Lisa Archuleta (Modesto, Calif.) and Keever recorded a team-high four groundballs apiece. Keever added three caused turnovers to her final statline.

Lizz Winkler (St. Charles, Ill.) snagged a season-high 13 saves in a complete game between the pipes.

Andrea Colford paced Aurora with six goals, three assists, nine shots, seven shots on goal, and 14 draw controls. The guests won 18 out of 22 draws on the day. Kristina Krokosz and Ellie Blake each contributed a hat trick with three goals.
