TYLER, Texas – The University of Dallas men's cross country team opened the 2017 season at the UT Tyler King Campbell Spectacular on Friday. The race was 2 miles (3.22 Kilometers) as the Crusaders look to ease into increasing distance over the span of three competitions this month.

Joseph Kilmer (Rockville, Md.) paced the UD runners with a time of 10:47 minutes. He was 0:06 away from the top finisher, which had a neck-in-neck finish as Kilmer took fifth overall. A top quartet of University of Texas at Tyler runners finished above with Will Mcilroy leading the bunch with a 10:41.2 minute race. Justin Tokuz was less than a second away at 10:42.0. Matthew Cecotti and Shafen Borah scored 10:45 and 10:46 to bridge the gap to Kilmer.

East Texas Baptist University, LeTourneau University, UT-Tyler, and Louisiana College were in attendance from the American Southwest Conference.
