Crusaders Open up Season at HSU Early Season Invite; McGuirk Notches Personal-Best in Javelin Throw

ABILENE, Texas - The University of Dallas men's track and field team began the 2019 season at the HSU Early Season Invite on Saturday (Feb. 23). Odd conditions on the day with 30 mph wind gusts and temperatures in the high 40s made for a challenging day. Kevin McGuirk (Front Royal, Va.) PR'd in javelin throw after four-meter improvement.

Jacob Fink (Coppell, Texas) and Tomas DePetris (Houston, Texas) made their track debuts on the day. Fink competed in the 200 Meter with a time of 28.34 . McGuirk and DePetris ran in the 800m as they finished 2nd/3rd in their heats, respectively. In the 800m Finals, McGuirk finished 5th (2:10.50) while DePetris finished 6th (2:11.01) in their 800m debuts.

McGuirk competed in the Javelin throw as well, coming in second overall with over a four-meter PR after a 43.51m mark.

McGuirk, DePetris, and Shivam Mishra (Jamshedpur, India) ran the first three legs of the 4X400 relay but dropped out. Mishara also competed in the 800-meter race.
