GEORGETOWN, Texas - The University of Dallas men's soccer team fell to Southwestern University 2-1 in overtime. The Pirates (10-5-1, 8-4-1 SCAC) scored two goals in a second-half comeback. The Crusaders (8-6, 7-5 SCAC) broke the scoreless tie when Chima Ogueri (Garland, Texas) found the back of the net. A 69th minute goal for Southwestern took the match into the overtime period. Andrew Hernandez found the golden goal in the 95th minute.

It was a very close match the whole way. Both teams both had five shots taken in both periods. Sean Carlin (Puyallup, Wash.) made four saves, whereas Alan Carr made three for the Pirates. The Dallas defense played great throughout the game, holding the Pirates to six shots on goal.

In the first period both teams had decent opportunities to score, but the defense and goal keeper play held each team in check, leading to a scoreless tie at halftime. Nothing happened early in the second half until Ogueri scored his second goal in the 63rd minute, unassisted. Just a few minutes later a header shot by Sacco Fernandez was saved nicely by Carlin. The Pirates finally broke through with a score by Alex Newell assisted by Luis Ramirez in the 69th minute. Dallas outshot Southwestern 3-2 down the stretch, but no one was able to break the tie thanks to the defensive play by both teams.

In the overtime period Southwestern was able to grab a corner kick three minutes in but was cleared out. One minute later, Andrew Hernandez scored the golden-goal in the 95th minute for his third goal on the season with an assist from Dejan Savic.

 A trio of Crusaders had two shots taken in the match. Ogueri, Andrew Ciancone (Houston, Texas), and Brady McNamara (San Antonio, Texas) all led the team in that category.

Hernandez and Michael Glode both took two shots to lead the Pirates.

The Pirates won the corner shot battle 4-0.

Dallas lost its first match on the season that went to overtime. UD is 2-1 in OT games on the season. Five of the six Dallas losses have been decided by one goal.
