Crusaders Outlast Austin College 1-0; Ogueri's Goal is the Difference

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas men's soccer team won a tight 1-0 game against Austin College on Tuesday. Chima Ogueri (Garland, Texas) scored the winning goal in the 61st minute. The Crusaders (5-2, 4-1 SCAC) held the 'Roos to four shots in the game. Dallas will take its four-game winning streak into Colorado this upcoming weekend.

It was a tight match the whole way. Dallas took eight shots in the first half, opposed to Austin College's one. Dallas outshot AC 4-0 in corner kicks in the first half, but were unable to break through. The two teams went to halftime tied at 0.

The 'Roos (4-4-1, 3-4-1 SCAC) were able to find six corner kick opportunities in the second half, but none of them led to a score. Ogueri was active on the attacking third, as he had four shots taken, putting two on goal. He nearly missed the goal once, but found the back of the net for his first goal of the season. In the 61st minute, he broke through the defense and beat the keeper, unassisted. UD took 16 shots, having eight each half.

Chase Reynolds (Southlake, Texas) matched Ogueri with four shots on the night, putting two on goal. Jose Martinez (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) added three.

Sean Carlin (Puyallup, Wash.) had a fairly easy stint in goal. He faced two shots and made two saves playing all 90 minutes.

Austin College had four different players take a shot. Owen Osagiede and Juan Ramirez had the only two shots on goal. Joseph Khalaf played all 90 minutes in goal, making three saves on four opportunies.

Dallas will travel to Colorado for two games this weekend. The Crusaders will play Johnson & Wales on Friday at 3 p.m. They will then turn around and play Colorado College on Sunday at 1 p.m.
