Men's Soccer falls Short to No.16 UMHB Sunday

BELTON, Texas – The University of Dallas men's soccer team fell to No. 16 University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on Sunday afternoon 1-0 in a hard-fought contest. The Crusaders will fall to 1-1 in the early part of the season. Martin Lopez (Hutto, Texas) provided the lone goal in the 13th minute for UMHB (2-0).

Lopez placed the ball in top right corner of the net from 35 yards out for his first goal of the season. Lopez led the Cru with three shots as UMHB outshot Dallas 11-5, but was only able to put three shots on goal.

Dallas appeared to even the game, but had a goal waived off with about 15 minutes left to play in the second half on a foul. Jose Martinez (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) led UD with two shots - both on goal. Nat Kajiwara (Southlake, Texas) and Nate Riddle (Millsboro, Del.) also placed a shot on goal for the Crusaders, but the visitors could not break through with an equalizer.

Sean Carlin (Puyallup, Wash.) provided two saves on the day. Carlin now has a 1-1 record in goal. Travis Aday made four saves to keep an undefeated record in goal (2-0) on the year.

Head Coach David Hoffmann stated that this game was decided by small margins. "Playing the #16 team in the nation on the road was going to be a tough task," Hoffmann mentioned. "Holding them to three shots on goal was a positive."
