IRVING, Texas – The second-seeded University of Dallas men's soccer team won its first ever Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Tournament match on Saturday with a 4-1 result over sixth-seeded Southwestern University. After receiving a bye on Friday with the programs best finish in the conference, Dallas scored twice in each half to improve to 13-3-2 overall. Hunter Haugland (Bixby, Okla.) was responsible for a pair of those goals.

The team leader in points (26) got the home fans excited seven and a half minutes into action with a header from the right side of the box. Eric Haigh (Frisco, Texas) tallied his fourth assist of the campaign with a flip throw-in down the left side of the field towards the corner.

The Crusaders possessed the ball well even with their narrow edge the majority of the first stanza. They outshot Southwestern 12-2 in the frame and 19-6 overall. Chima Ogueri (Garland, Texas) created a long run and punched in his sixth of the season with a little under five before the break.

Haugland added his second goal 10 minutes into the next half to open a 3-0 lead. He temporarily was the leader in goals with his 10th, but Nat Kajiwara (Southlake, Texas) rejoined him at the double-digit plateau on his score in the 79th minute.

Jake Swonke for the Pirates had broken the shutout at the 62:19 minute mark, but were unable to close the gap.

It was the Crusaders seventh win of the year on their home field, and their total amount of goals matched a season-best against a conference opponent for the fourth time. Also worth noting was this victory counted as Head Coach David Hoffmann's 140th of his career at UD. It is 240 for the program.
