UD Men's Lacrosse Drops Home Opener to Huntingdon on Saturday

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas men's lacrosse team dropped its home opener to Huntingdon College on Saturday 20-3. The Hawks (1-0) erupted for 10 goals in the second quarter to push the margin to double figures and never looked back.

Dallas (1-0) allowed three goals in the first seven minutes. Jake Frederick (Coppell, Texas) got UD on the board at the 4:32 mark with Christian Mitchell (Shreveport, La.) finding the assist for his first career point. UD trailed 4-1 after one quarter.

The Hawks scored the next 12 goals to build a 16-1 lead heading into the final quarter.

Frederick netted a hat trick for Dallas with the team's only goals and broke the scoring run with the first two goals early in the fourth. The junior logged eight shots with five on frame to go with five ground balls. Tommy Chadwick (Tampa, Fla.) matched Frederick with a team-high five ground balls and added three shots with two on cage.

Michael White (Colleyville, Texas) got the start in goal and made 14 saves against 28 shots faced in the first half. Owen Gibbons (St. Charles, Ill.) notched seven saves in 20:23 minutes.

Huntingdon was led by Zach Barnhill and Seth Howe with four goals apiece. Caleb Bohrer also registered a hat trick with three goals and added four assists for a game-high seven points. Stephen Dan earned the win with one goal allowed and three saves in the first half. Nick Balducci and Grant Beningfield split a quarter in the second half and combined for four saves.
