Men's Golf has Four Tournaments Slated for the 2019 Fall Season

IRVING, Texas – The University of Dallas men's golf team released its fall portion of the upcoming season in the 2019-20 year. Head Coach Garrett Smith enters his fourth full year at the helm of the men' golf program and has four tournaments slated this fall like in 2018. Most of the tournaments should be familiar to the returning golfers, as three were on the docket the previous season.

For the third consecutive fall season, the Crusaders open at the John Bohmann Memorial Invitational held at Starke Park and hosted by Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) foe Texas Lutheran University. Dallas has enjoyed record setting numbers in its previous two competitions. The season opener is September 9-10.

Dallas has three straight weeks of play during the month with its lone new tournament scheduled Sept. 15-16 at the Rockwind Links Golf Club, which will be hosted by McMurry University. The month concludes the following week at the Rhodes Fall Collegiate (22-23). Team MVP Emilio Montalvo (Mexico City, Mexico) carded a personal-low score 68 in the first round when UD was there in 2018.

On October 14-15, the Crusaders wrap up the fall season for the third straight time at the Alamo City Classic, which is also hosted by an SCAC opponent Trinity University. In 2017, the Crusaders rallied to a second-place finish headlined by rising junior Robby Evans (Flower Mound, Texas) with his record-setting 65 in the third round. His historic performance that has him in the Dallas record books lifted the then freshman to the Alamo City Classic title. Last fall, weather affected the course and allowed participants to only finish one round.

Smith was named SCAC Coach of the Year last season after guiding the Crusaders to the program's first SCAC Championship in Blanco, Texas. The roster returns the same five golfers that were part of that incredible feat for Dallas with Montalvo, Evans, Erik Hamm (Brentwood, Tenn.), Jacob Wade (Magnolia, Texas), and Seth McNeill (Plano, Texas).

The SCAC Championship is slated to be at Vaaler Creek Golf Club again. The remainder of the spring season will be released as details get sorted out by Smith in the coming months.
