Record-Breaking Round leads Men's Golf to a 4th Place Finish at the John Bohmann Memorial Invitational

SEGUIN, Texas – The University of Dallas men's golf team completed the third round at the John Bohmann Memorial Invitational on Tuesday. Dallas scored a program-best in the round with a 280, with the lowest scores counted being one above par (72). It was the Crusaders strongest round of the tournament and helped them finish fourth out of nine teams in the first tournament of the year. This included fellow opponents from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Trinity University (5th) and Centenary College (7th).

Dallas also finished with a record-breaking 870 (297, 293, 280) over three rounds. Southwestern University won the tournament with a team total of 850 followed by host Texas Lutheran University (857), and Concordia University (858).

Emilio Montalvo (Mexico City, Mexico) boasted the best score for the Crusaders by setting the new Low Three Round Record 212 (71, 72, 69). He carded a 69 in the final round for a personal-low and placed fifth overall.

Robby Evans (Flower Mound, Texas) followed right behind with a 213 (72, 76, 67), as he surged back to tie sixth in the rankings after matching the lowest total scored in the tournament for an 18-hole round. His 67 ranks second all-time behind his own school record 65 for the Low Round Record. Evans also cracked the previous Low Three Rounds Record by a pair of strokes (215).

Erik Hamm (Brentwood, Tenn.) contributed a personal-low 72 in the last round to submit a 221 overall for the third highest score on the team. Jacob Wade (Magnolia, Texas) matched his junior teammate with a 72 on the day with his lowest score of the three rounds.

Starcke Park has been kind historically for the UD men's golf team. A year ago, the Crusaders set multiple records at the fall opener. This includes both team records that fell – the Low Round 288 and Low Three Rounds 474. Montalvo and Evans also topped one of the Low Three Round Records achieved by teammate Thomas Schuberg (Camarillo, Calif.) last year there. Schuberg at the time had tied 2001 UD Hall of Famer Dan Cruse's performance at the 1959 Gatesville Invitational.

Texas Lutheran's Colin Uecker won the invitational by shooting -6 on par for a 207 (70, 69, 68). Seger Howell from Concordia followed with a 209 (67, 73, 69). Southwestern's Cade Osgood (70, 68, 72) and TLU's Matthew McArthur (71, 72, 69) tied for third with a 210.

Dallas will compete next at the Rhodes College Men's Fall Collegiate Golf Classic at Tunica National Golf Resort on September 23-24.
