Wade ties 4th; Men's Golf claims 4th at SCAC Tournament

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The University of Dallas men's golf team completed the third round in day two of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championship on Tuesday at Panther Trail Course at the Golf Trails of the Woodlands.

The Crusaders posted their lowest round of the tournament with a 306 to compile a 926 overall. The score was the lowest for the program in a tournament round and helped secure the best finish for the team in the league tournament (4th out of 6th).  

Jacob Wade (Magnolia, Texas) earned a place on the All-SCAC Team and was two strokes shy of placing in the top three finishes to lead Dallas. He posted one of the three Eagles in the tournament.

Southwestern University won its third straight title with a 915 (304, 305, 306). Schreiner University bounced back from its lowest round yesterday, and matched the opening score with a 301 to get second with a 921. Texas Lutheran University rounded out the top three finishes with a 922 (309, 309, 304). Trinity University dropped behind UD with a 928 (302, 316, 310), and Centenary College finished in sixth with a 987 (334, 327, 326).

Wade and Will Doctor (Houston, Texas) tied for the lowest scores on the day for the Crusaders with 74. Wade was able to tie for fourth in the standings with a 227. Doctor ended his first collegiate season with a 230 overall and tied for sixth.

The other freshman golfer competing for UD this final tournament was Robby Evans (Flower Mound), and he also finished within the top 10 with a 231. He shot a 77 in the third round and led the Crusaders with seven Birdies, which was second highest accumulation behind nine. A trio of players achieved both marks.

Southwestern's Cade Osgood and Schreiner's Jason Lopez tied for the lowest overall scores 222. Osgood won the playoff matchup to claim first place. Behind Lopez rounding out first three places was Collin Uecker from Texas Lutheran with a 225. He matched Osgood with the lowest round score of the entire tournament with a 71 to propel him up six spots from Monday.

Dallas has concluded the 2018 season. Head Coach Garrett Smith's team notched several program-bests and produced its best overall numbers since joining the conference in 2011-12.
