Al Jones Memorial Results from 2 Rounds on Monday

TYLER, Texas – The University of Dallas men's golf team completed two rounds (36 holes) on Monday in day one of the Al Jones Memorial hosted by University of Texas at Tyler. The host team led 609 (305, 304) after two rounds at Hollytree Country Club.

Dallas sits in fourth place out of six teams with a 628 (321, 307). The Crusaders second round score counted as the third lowest that round and was fourth lowest out of 12 team rounds overall.

Schreiner University is the other Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) school competing, and are in second with a 617. The Mountaineers posted the lowest score on the day in the second round with a 297. California Lutheran rounds out the top trio of scores with a 618 thanks to matching 309 totals per round.

Individually, the Crusaders have one player in the top 10 with Will Doctor (Houston, Texas) tied for ninth with a 153 (78, 75). Thomas Schuberg (Camarillo, Calif.) finished the first round of 18 with the fewest strokes for UD with 77. Doctor was right behind with a 75.

A quartet of players improved on the second round through the course with each besting the earlier score on the day. Doctor and Emilio Montalvo (Mexico City, Mexico) matched team-lows with 75 apiece. Jacob Wade (Magnolia, Texas) was the other player in that initial group mentioned to shoot under 80 in the second round with a 77.

Hayden Montoya from UT-Tyler is winning currently with a 147. His teammates Hayden Montoya and Harris Butler (individual) follow right behind with 148s.

Dallas wraps up the tournament on Tuesday.
