Hovde Participates in NBC World Series

WICHITA, Kan. – Nicolas Hovde (Waco, Texas) was selected by the Waco Missions to play in the NBC World Series that hosted the first week of games from July 27-31. Hovde, wearing number 1, started in right field in his only appearance last Saturday and went 0-for-3 in a 4-0 setback for the Missions. Hovde's team came back to win 7-5 on Monday over the Great Bend Cats out of Kansas.

Hovde played summer ball with the Texas Kings out of the Brazos Baseball Association League. Hovde did club a pair of home runs with that squad. The Missions were also part of the league and won the championship to earn the invite to the NBC World Series.

Hovde is a rising senior for the University of Dallas baseball team and has experience playing the corner outfield positions in three seasons. In 2019, Hovde played a career-high 13 games (seven starts) and garnered nine hits, a double, a triple, five RBI, and five runs scored. He was 2-for-3 in stolen bases and added an outfield assist while not committing an error.

Teammate Jamie Wallace (Crockett, Texas) is also on a team in the NBC World Series, with the lefthander being picked up by the Texas Express. His team automatically advanced to Championship Week, which will go on from August 1-10. The Express are in Pool A with the Cheney Diamond Dawgs, San Diego Waves, and Seattle Studs.
