Five Named to SCAC 2019 Fall All-Sportsmanship Team

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) today announced its 12th annual fall All-Sportsmanship teams. A total of 47 student-athletes were selected to the 2019 squad in the sports of men’s cross country, women’s cross country, men’s soccer, women’s soccer and volleyball.

The University of Dallas had five student-athletes represented, which included: Andrew Maal (Pueblo West, Colo.), Hannah Guth (Lake Charles, La.), Craig Drozdowski (Cypress, Texas), Lexi Tocci (Austin, Texas), and Stephanie Janysek (Sinton, Texas).

The SCAC places a special emphasis on sportsmanship each year and is asking all fans of the conference to exhibit good sportsmanship at all conference functions throughout the 2019-20 season. Read the SCAC Presidents’ Council statement on Fan Sportsmanship.

Each head coach was asked to elect one member from his or her team who displayed good sportsmanship throughout the season.

Four of the five players from Dallas were seniors and Maal represented UD men’s cross country as the lone four-year letterwinner. He also earned the accolade for the second time in his career, with the other in 2017. Guth joined him as selections on the women’s cross country side. Her sister Hailey Guth earned a spot on the all-sportsmanship team in 2018. First-year cross country and track and field head coach Nick Schneigert gave the nominations for this pair.

Drozdowski set a career-high in matches played and minutes this season as a center back for the UD men’s soccer team. 17-year head coach David Hoffmann made the nomination.

Janysek completes the quartet of seniors that received recognition on the SCAC All-Sportsmanship team. She appeared in 27 matches (67 sets) as a setter and was nominated by third year head coach Kelli Trautmann.

Tocci is a junior on the women’s soccer team and was picked by another three-year head coach Lexi Stinson for the recognition. Tocci completed her second season after missing most of the 2018-19 campaign.
