Dallas Announces 2018 Hall of Fame Class
IRVING, Texas - University of Dallas Athletics Director Dick Strockbine announced the four newest members to be selected into the University of Dallas Hall of Fame. This group includes a trio of men's soccer players: Cody Worden (Class of '02), Jared Lee ('07), and Ryan Meske ('10). The men's soccer program will now have 13 members of the hall, with 11 coming in four of the five classes dating back to 2012. This includes two players and a head coach honored in 2014.
Brian Spinner ('04) also earned a selection to give the baseball program its 24th member named for induction.
The induction ceremony will be held on Sunday, November 11 in the Rathskellar. The Dallas Athletics Hall of Fame inducted its first class in 1998. There have been 21 classes during that span (two in 2004).
Brian Spinner was the starting center fielder for the University of Dallas for four years, 2001-04, playing 153 games with 536 plate appearances, scoring 157 runs (UD record) with 186 hits for a .347 batting average, 84 runs batted in and 75 stolen bases. He holds UD records for runs in a game (5) and for triples in a game with two. The 2001 team won the American Southwest Conference (ASC) East Division championship and the 2002 team went 33-3 for a .916 winning percentage which at the time was the best single season won-loss percentage in Division III history. He was named a United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) All-American in 2003 and 2004.
Jared Lee is regarded as the best defender in University of Dallas soccer history. His presence was immediately felt in 2004, his first season, when the team record improved by a plus 7 won-loss record improvement. In his four years the team record was 53-13-4, a .785 winning percentage and included the 2007 campaign with a 17-1-1, .921 record and the championship of the Association of the Division III Independents (AD3I). It is no coincidence that the career and season records for goals against average and career shutouts were set with Lee as the backbone of the defense. He was named to the USCAA All-American team in 2005 and 2006.
Ryan Meske was a forward on the University of Dallas soccer teams from 2007 through 2010 and was a major contributor to the run of success experienced by men’s soccer in those years. The 2007 team won a school record 17 games and the championship of the Association of Division III Independents (AD3I) with a school record winning percentage of .921. The team backed that up in 2008 by winning the championship of the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) and a berth in the NCAA Division III tournament. Meske was a 1st team NEAC and a two-time AD3I selection as well as an Honorable Mention All-American selection of the USCAA. In all, he played 75 games (tied 4th all-time), scored 32 goals (tied 4th all-time) and registered 22 assists (6th all-time) for 86 points (5th all-time).
From 1999 to 2002 Cody Worden manned the nets for the University men’s soccer team in 68 games, turning in shutouts in 11 of those games, second most in UD history, with goals against average of 1.93 and 436 saves, also second most in UD history. In the 2002 season he set a school season record with six shutouts which led to his All American selection by the USCAA. His stalwart play in the postseason led the University of Dallas to its first men’s soccer title when they won the USCAA championship in 2002.
