Wilgenbusch Named to USTFCCCA All-Academic Team

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released its men's and women's team and individual academic awards. Anna Wilgenbusch (St. Paul, Minn.) of the University of Dallas women's cross country team was named to the long list of NCAA Division III athletes selected. In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 percent of their respective regional championship event.

Wilgenbusch won the South/Southeast Regional Championship race in Memphis, Tennessee on November 16th and became the first UD women's cross country athlete to advance to the NCAA Division III National Championships. Wilgenbusch later became the first Dallas athlete in school history to be awarded an NCAA All-American award after she finished 38th at the National Championships race in Louisville, Kentucky on November 23rd. Wilgenbusch grabbed other academic awards this season after she was named to the 2019 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Women's Cross Country Fall All-Sportsmanship Team and the 2019 United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National All-Academic Team with her diligent work in the classroom.

The women's cross country team was also selected as one of the 212 women's teams that received All-Academic honors in the NCAA Division III. In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.1 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period, among other qualifiers. The Crusaders notched a 3.4 GPA in the fall semester to secure this award.
