Wilgenbusch Awarded USTFCCCA NCAA Division III All-Region

NEW ORLEANS, La. - All-Region honors for the 2019 NCAA Division III Cross Country season were recognized on Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) following Regional Championships Saturday.

Anna Wilgenbusch (St. Paul, Minn.) was named from the University of Dallas women's cross country team. She is the first to earn this accolade in program history.

A total of 280 men and 280 women from 155 different institutions earned the distinction by finishing among the top-35 runners at one of eight regional sites across the country.

Wilgenbusch continues to add to her spectacular campaign, as she won for the ninth straight time at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional Championship with a record-breaking time of 21:29.3 in the 6k. It was her previous mark she shattered from a week ago at the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA). Two weeks prior to this win, Wilgenbusch won the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championship at host Colorado College which was also a 6k. The sophomore runner earned SCAC Runner-of-the-Year, All-SCAC First Team, and USCAA All-American First Team to precede Monday's All-Region announcement.

Wilgenbusch matched the all-time record for meet wins in a career this season alone with nine. She long broke the single-season record for meet wins at four. She has broken four different school records with the 6k on three occasions now and still the NCAA Division III National Championships looming on Saturday, November 23. Wilgenbusch is the first Crusader to qualify for the national race, which this season is hosted by Spalding University in Louisville, Kentucky.
