Another Win for Wilgenbusch; 5k Record Headlines Crusaders 3rd Place Finish in Muthama-Rogers Invite

NORTH NEWTON, Kan. – Anna Wilgenbusch (St. Paul, Minn.) won her second 5k in a row and in the span of a week, this time shattering a school record with a time of 17:53.4. The reigning Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week continued her early season success by leading the University of Dallas women's cross country team to a third place finish at the Muthama-Rogers Invite on Saturday. Wilgenbusch also broke the meet record with her fast time.

Wilgenbusch improved by about a minute from last week's personal record (PR) at the UT-Dallas Cross Country Invitational (18:55), as the flat course and cooler weather temperatures affected the Crusaders with several PR's. Emma Kate Callahan (Overland Park, Kan.) and Sabrina Lucio (Chino, Calif.) also broke into the top 15 with Callahan in eighth (20:30.6 - PR) and Lucio in 15th (21:56.7).

Elizabeth Regnerus (Round Rock, Texas), Mary Korth (McKinney, Texas), and Isabella Childs (Saint Mary's, Kan.) formed the next trio respectively in 23rd (22:37.3), 25th (22:42.3), and 30th  (23:26.9), all counting for PR's.

Katie Winston (Phoenix, Ariz.) ran in her first collegiate 5k and clocked a 24:14 time.

York College won the competition with 51 points, while Kansas Wesleyan came in second with 59. Dallas competed in a field against NAIA scholarship and NJCAA Division I scholarship.

The previous school record in the 5,000 Meters was held by 2015 Hall of Famer, Angela Cuba (18:40 on Nov. 1, 2008). Wilgenbush also became the 4th person in the Dallas women's cross country program to be a multiple individual event winner in the same season (Mary Peters, Elena Yates, and Cuba). This is the ninth year that UD has had more than one event winner.
