Wilgenbusch Breaks School Record in 2 Mile Race to lead Dallas at Croosader Dual Meet

SHERMAN, Texas - The University of Dallas women's cross country team competed for the first time in 2019 at the Croosader Dual Meet against Austin College. Anna Wilgenbusch (St. Paul, Minn.) led the Crusaders with a first place finish and a new school record in the 2 mile race with a 12:17.7 Wilgenbusch shattered the previous record of 12:46 held by 2011 Hall of Fame Inductee Elena Yates. UD gathered four of the top five spots on the day.

Emma Kate Callahan (Overland Park, Kan.) followed behind Wilgenbusch for second place finishing with a time of 13:47.8. Danielle Lozano took the third position to lead AC. Sabrina Lucio (Chino, Calif.) made her collegiate debut in the 2 mile race today and secured fourth place with a time of 14:19.5. Jordan Ness wrapped up the fifth position running 14:21.9.

UD also had three more runners finish in the top-10 (8th, 9th, and 10th).

This meet marks the final contest for Head Coach Matt Barber, who has resigned from his coaching duties. Coach Barber was the head coach for both men's and women's cross country and men's and women's track teams for the past five years.


UP NEXT

Dallas will gear up for the UT-Dallas Cross Country Invite (5k) on September 14th. Newly hired coach Nick Schneigert will make his Dallas coaching debut as the head man at this meet.
