Wilgenbusch Scored Top Point for NCAA DIII Runners at 2018 Saints Invitational; Dallas 2nd Overall

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The University of Dallas women's cross country team competed in the 2018 Saints Invitational hosted at Windcrest Golf Club. Similar to last week, storms created a course that featured difficult racing conditions in the 5k. Also like last week, the Crusaders came away with a second place finish of 41 points, behind fellow SCAC opponent, Texas Lutheran University (28 points). Dallas edged Texas College (80), Schreiner University (93), and Sul Ross State University (124).

Anna Wilgenbusch (St. Paul, Minn.) paced the Crusaders and all NCAA Division III runners with a time of 21:04.5. After scoring third a week ago to help earn SCAC and USCAA Runner of the Week honors, Wilgenbush shaved a couple seconds off that time to improve and score first place in the Team Scoring. The freshman has led UD in all three races this season. She finished 17th overall against runners from Division I and II.

Clare Hernandez (Dade City, Fla.) followed for the Crusaders scoring a sixth place finish in points on a time of 22:49.6.

Rounding out the top three for UD with a ninth place score was Emma Kate Callahan (Overland Park, Kan.). The sophomore clocked a 23:33.3 time in her first meet back from injury. Mary Rose Corkery (Mansfield, Mass.) also returned from an injury and ran a 26:26.6.

Points 12-15 would belong to a quartet of Crusaders. They belonged in respective order to Amy Foote (Saint Paul, Minn.) at 24:08.5, Katie Dieteman (Erie, Pa.) at 24:18.1, Mary Korth (McKinney, Texas) at 24:29.9, and Catherine Kottenstette (Pueblo, Colo.) at 24:30.0.

Libby Regnerus (Round Rock, Texas) gave UD its fifth consecutive finisher of the pack but was running unattached and did not score points. Kottenstette and Regnerus made their season debuts.

Registering seasons bests in the challenging conditions were: Isabella Childs (Saint Mary's, KS), Hannah Guth (Lake Charles, La.), Kimmy Keally (Anderson, Texas), and Mackenzie Tano (Wylie, Texas) with respective times of 25:47, 27:05.4, 25:38.2, and 25:48.2.
