Women's Cross Country bolsters Fourth as hosts of 2012 SCAC Championships

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas women's cross country team placed fourth Saturday in the 2012 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championships.

Sophomore runner Clare Myers (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) led Dallas with her 19th-place time of 26:02.68. Myers' average mile was 6:59.2. 

Keeping pace was junior Mary Jones (Oneida, Wis.), who ran 26:54.61 for 22nd on the 6K course.

Three other Lady Crusaders finished top-30. Oliva Bach (Marshall, Texas) placed 25th, Elizabeth Hinchley (Magnolia, Texas) was 26th, and Danielle Pajak (Oaklawn, Ill.) turned in 29th of 61 participants.

Dallas averaged 36.15.9 as a team, and ended five points behind Southwestern University for third.

Vanessa Moreno led a group from Trinity University whom finished first through fifth, individually. 

Moreno ran 23:26.02, while her team averaged 32:07.2.

Trinity received an automatic NCAA regional berth, with the 2012 SCAC Championship in hand.
