Women's Cross Country runs to Second, Jones finishes in Texas-Tyler Invitational
TYLER, Texas - The University of Dallas women's cross country team ran to a second-place finish Friday evening at the University of Texas-Tyler Invitational.
Just one-point from matching the first-place host school Lady Patriots, Dallas was 18-seconds from catching Texas-Tyler's cumulative time of 1:48:03.09.
The Lady Crusaders, however, bested the likes of LeTourneau University, the University of Texas-Dallas, Centenary College of Louisiana, East Texas Baptist University, Jarvis Christian College, and Wiley College.
LeTourneau's Nicole Leman boasted first-place with a winning time of 19:21.68.
Dallas' Mary Jones (Oneida, Wis.) took home third after crossing the finish-line at 20:45.33, eight seconds shy of Texas-Tyler's Brittany Brunson.
Two other Lady Crusaders finished in the top-10. Elizabeth Hinchley (Magnolia, Texas) tallied a fifth-place time of 21:10.37, while teammate Colleen Slattery (Middle Ridge, Wis.) paced to 21:52.12 for 10th.
Rounding out Dallas' field of top-15 runners were Mikayla Tolley (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Olivia Bach (Marshall, Texas) and Danielle Pajak (Oaklawn, Ill.).
Tolley grabbed 12th place (22:11.44), while Bach and Pajak entrenched themselves in 13th (22:23.56) and 15th (22:27.40), respectively.

Dallas will venture to Fort Worth for the Texas Wesleyan University Invitational held on Saturday, Sept. 22.
