Volleyball Picks Up a Win at Conference Crossover

SHREVEPORT, La. - The University of Dallas volleyball team played four games in two days at an SCAC conference crossover weekend hosted by Centenary College.  

On day one, they faced Trinity University and Schreiner University.  They were defeated in straight sets by the Tigers 17-25, 25-27, and 11-25, hitting .172 as a team.  Alexa Swaller led the team with one of her best performances of the season, recording 12 kills on three errors to hit .360.

The Crusaders went to five sets against Schreiner, losing the match 3-2 (25-16, 21-25, 25-22, 19-25, 7-15).  Cassie Dyoub had a monster game, posting a career-high 24 kills on just four errors to hit .357 while also recording 20 digs.

On day two, Dallas started off with a 10:00 am match against Colorado College and were defeated in straight sets 15-25, 14-25, and 13-25.  Their final match of the weekend was against the hosts, Centenary College, whom they defeated soundly 25-16, 25-25, and 25-16.  The Crusaders notched 42 kills on just nine errors to post their third-best hitting percentage of the season at .317.

Isabel McKamey was near flawless, leading all players with 10 kills and just one error to hit .474 for the match.  Kaitlyn Johnson wasn't far off with nine kills, one error, and hitting .364.  

AVa Alvarado recorded 106 assists on the weekend, averaging 7.6 assists per set.  Devin Henry amassed 62 digs over four games, leading the team with 4.43 digs per set.

Up Next

The Crusaders will play three games in a conference crossover next weekend at Austin College.  They will play two matches on Saturday: 11:00 am vs St. Thomas, and 3:30 pm against Southwestern University.
