Crusaders Fall to Southwestern and TLU

October 6, 2023

SEGUIN, Texas - The University of Dallas volleyball team faced Southwestern University and Texas Lutheran on the first day of their conference road trip to Seguin, Texas on Friday.  The Crusaders fell to Southwestern 3-0 and to TLU 3-0, dropping to 1-6 in conference play and 11-9 overall on the year.

The Crusaders struggled to find a foothold on the day, losing four of their six sets by double-digits.  Dallas tried to turn their game around in the third set against Southwestern, but it was too little, too late.  The Pirates staved off a late comeback, winning the third set 26-24; a win against the Pirates would have kept Dallas above them in the conference standings, but both teams sat at 1-5 after the match.

Dallas hit just .049 as a team.  Isabel McKamey lead the team with eight kills on two errors, hitting .375 in the match.

Texas Lutheran proved to be formidable and justified the top 25 votes they're receiving.  The Bulldogs were in control of the match from start to finish, sweeping the Crusader in straight sets.  Alexa Swaller lead the team with eight kills on three errors, hitting .192.  Devin Henry lead the team with 12 digs, with Cassie Dyoub right behind at 11 digs.

The Crusaders are back in action tomorrow and will wrap up the conference weekend with a match against St. Thomas.  The match is scheduled for a 10:00 am start from Seguin, Texas.
