MATCH INFORMATION

The University of Dallas volleyball team begins October with an eight-game road trip that includes four matches over two days the next couple weekends. Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) play resumes with Schreiner University selected to host the crossover on October 5-6. Dallas will play Johnson & Wales University (CO), Texas Lutheran University, No. 8 Trinity University, and University of St. Thomas (TX) to finish the first half of league play.


MATCH NOTES

- Dallas (7-10, 2-3 SCAC) has dropped its past three outings in a row, last falling in five sets on September 24 to LeTourneau University.

- Abigail Porras (El Paso, Texas) leads the team and ranks third in the league for kills with 173. Her 0.50 service aces per set checks in second in the SCAC.

- Larissa Ramirez (San Antonio, Texas) is fourth in conference with 6.56 assists-per-set. The freshman has garnered 420.

- UD has totaled 716 kills (11.74 per set) compared to 679 (11.13) by its opposition.

- UD All-Time Series Records: (JWU: 5-1 | TLU: 5-12 | Trinity: 1-17 | St. Thomas: 2-6

- Dallas swept Johnson & Wales last season, 2-0 and were winless against the Bulldogs (0-2) and Tigers (0-3). Dallas last faced St. Thomas in 2009.

- Johnson & Wales (2-13, 0-4 SCAC) have dropped 10 in a row, falling to No. 9 Colorado College on Tuesday.

- Brooke Paxton and Hope Hines are the top hitters with 154 (2.85 k/s) and 125 kills (2.31 k/s), respectively.

- Paxton also leads the team with 24 service aces (0.44 aces/set) and is third in team-digs (176). Kaitlin Jones leads in digs with 206 (3.81 d/s) and Hines follows with 185.

- Trinity (13-3, 5-0 SCAC) continues its nice start to 2019 by winning its last five matches, all to start league play.

- The Tigers check in at number eight in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division III Top-25 Poll.

- Avery Tuggle paces the offense with 197 kills (3.18/set), while Sami Lin has registered 211 digs (3.77/set). Emily Ellis and Emma Funk have eclipsed 50 blocks with 54 and 51.

- Texas Lutheran (9-9, 2-3 SCAC) dropped its last match at Southwestern University, 3-1.

- The Bulldogs are led by Bryten Mitchan and Madison Weisinger in kills with 145 and 135. Peyton Sulak has chipped in 108 to give TLU a trio in triple-digits.

- Six different players have reached double figures in service aces with Paige Day and Lexi Morris leading at 22 and 21. Sulak has made 46 blocks that include seven solo blocks. TLU edges teams 120-103 and 118-106 in those respected categories.

- St. Thomas (4-9, 2-4 SCAC) dropped its first contest of the month to LeTourneau University in four sets at home in the non-conference tilt.

- Alaina Lanik leads the squad with 142 kills and 22 aces. She has posted 175 assists, which is second to Kelsie Walker's 271. Kaylyn Latin has collected 350 digs, while Annie Woods and Emily Jaroszewski each have over 30 blocks with 35 and 31.

- This is the first year the Celts have been affiliated with the NCAA Division III and SCAC.


(SCAC Preseason Coaching Picks)

- Trinity was given the highest finish among discussed teams with 90 points (2 first-place selections).

 - TLU and St. Thomas just finished after UD (55) with 48 and 42 respective points for sixth and seventh.

- JWU rounded out the standings with 14 points

ROAD AHEAD

Dallas travels to Washington University (MO) on Oct. 11-12 for a non-conference weekend. The Crusaders battle Lakeland University and host Washington on that Friday, and then finish things up against Monmouth University and University of Wisconsin-Stout the next day.
