FIRST SERVE
The University of Dallas volleyball team will host a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference crossover tournament on Friday (9/28) and Saturday (9/29). The Crusaders (9-5, 2-2 SCAC) are coming off a 2-2 outing last weekend at the SCAC cross-over tournament held at Southwestern University.
UD NOTES
- Abigail Porras (El Paso, Texas) was named the Unites States Collegiate Athletic Association Division I Volleyball Player of the Week. Porras led UD over the week with 47 kills and averaged 2.61 per set. She tallied 22 digs, 14 service aces, and a block to finish with 61.5 points.
- Porras also ranks third in the SCAC with 0.51 service aces per set.
- Dayjay Whyte (Round Rock, Texas) continues to be the team-leader with 133 kills.
- Krystyn Pua (Escondido, Calif.) has risen to be the team-leader in digs (141).
A LOOK AT THE OPPONENTS
(Schreiner University)
- The Mountaineers (1-14, 0-6 SCAC) are currently on a 13-game losing streak.
- Madeline McKay leads Schreiner with 196 kills.
- Katrina Liberman holds the team-lead with 637 assists in 2018.
- The Crusaders have a 10-15 all-time record against the Mountaineers. Dallas won both meetings last season.
(Texas Lutheran University)
- The Bulldogs (4-13, 1-3 SCAC) have lost five straight matches.
- Bryten Mitchan had the team-lead with 134 kills, averaging 2.27 per set.
- Jaci Chambers is the team leader in digs. (384)
- TLU holds a 10-5 all-time record against Dallas. The Bulldogs swept both matches against UD last year.
(Trinity University)
- The Tigers (12-4, 4-0 SCAC) are ranked 13th nationally in the American Volleyball Coaches Association.
- Madeline McKay is ranked first in the SCAC with 196 kills.
- Katrina Lieberman is the team's go-to setter. She has 637 assists in 2018.
- The Tigers hold a 14-1 record against Dallas all-time. The Crusaders last won against Trinity in 2015 in a five-set thriller on September 27th.
(Johnson & Wales University)
- The Wildcats are the newest member of the SCAC in 2018. They are 0-13, 0-4 SCAC) on the current campaign.
- Emmy Gazaway is the main setter who holds the team lead with 190 assists.
- Brooke Paxton has 103 kills on the year to lead JWU.
- The Crusaders are 3-1 all-time versus the newest team in the SCAC.
UP NEXT
Dallas will head to Randall University on Tuesday for two non-conference games. The Crusaders will play Southwestern Christian College at 5 p.m. followed by taking on the host RU at 7 p.m.
