Whyte (Player) and Smith (Setter) Garner USCAA Weekly Honors

NORFOLK, Va. – The University of Dallas volleyball team had a pair of players selected United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Players of the Week. Elizabeth Smith (Broken Arrow, Okla.) was named Setter of the Week, while Dayjah Whyte (Round Rock, Texas) got tabbed Player of the Week. Both earned their first USCAA weekly honors.

Smith tallied 67 assists over two matches and posted a double-double in the Crusaders' home-opening win with 31 assists and 10 digs. She matched her season-high 36 assists in UD's victory over Randall University. The senior now ranks fifth all-time in the program for assists with 2,131.

Whyte paced the offense over the pair of games with 27 kills, including a career-high 15 against Randall. The freshman added two serving aces, five digs, and two blocks over the weekend slate in the University of Dallas Classic. The Crusaders have won five straight games and six of their last seven.

Dallas plays Arlington Baptist on Tuesday night to conclude the first stretch of non-conference contests this fall. UD will play at host Southwestern University on September 22-23 to start Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) matchups.
