ARLINGTON, Texas – The University of Dallas volleyball team fought off Arlington Baptist College on Tuesday night in a four-set win 25-16, 28-26, 21-25, 25-11. The Crusaders (7-3) have now won six straight matches.

Dallas had a season-high 61 kills in the match. Five players eclipsed double figures in kills with a trio of them notching personal-bests. Highlighting the group were Ellise Anable (Phoenix, Ariz.) and Isabel Garcia (San Antonio, Texas) both pounding 13 each. Anna Stevenson (Dallas, Texas) reached double-digits for the first time this season with 11. Dayjah Whyte (Round Rock, Texas) and Abigail Porras (El Paso, Texas) completed the quintet with 11 and 10, respectively.

The Crusaders amassed double-digits in aces for the fourth time this year. Porras posted a personal-best with four. Lexi Shafer (Sugar Land, Texas) and Whyte both gathered three. Dallas also posted a season-high 56 assists in the match. Stephanie Janysek (Sinton, Texas) led the team with a career-high 45.

Dallas and AB were tied at six early in the first set. The teams exchanged attack errors before the Crusaders managed five straight points to gain a 14-8 lead. Porras and Garcia helped the Crusaders finish off the Patriots in set one with multiple kills.

AB grew a 3-1 lead in set two. The Crusaders responded with three straight points to gain their first lead of the set (4-3). The Patriots evened the match at 6 later down the stretch. AB carried the momentum to go on a 4-0 run to gain back the lead (10-6). UD scratched back to tie the set at 13 and again at 15. Anable added two kills for UD in the set to grab the lead back (18-16). The Patriots were not going to back down as they gathered three straight points of their own with one UD attack error and Jessica Wells and Hannah Jiminez each pounding kills to regain the lead.

Stevenson had a big kill to tie the game later in the set at 21. Porras added a kill and an ace in consecutive plays to tie the set at 23. Peniah Waites hit a kill for AB to find the Patriots one point from the set win (24-23), but Anable and Garcia kept the Crusaders from dropping the set with consecutive kills (25-24). With a UD error and a kill from Jacquelyn Wells, AB found themselves eyeing set point again (26-25) but the Crusaders rattled off three straight kills, two from Anable and one from Whyte to win 28-26.

Dallas cut an early 4-0 deficit to make a tight third set. Stevenson grabbed a kill for the second Crusaders lead of the set (20-19). The Patriots responded by taking six of the final seven points to win set three.

The Crusaders answered with the best set of the night jumping out to a 13-2 advantage. Dallas hit .481 in the frame as they finished off the Patriots in dominating fashion to expand the winning streak.

According to digital, statistical records dating to 2004, this is the first match the Crusaders have had five players in double-digits for kills within that span.

Dallas will start conference play in a cross-divisional tournament hosted by Southwestern University this weekend. The Crusaders will start by taking on Austin College and Colorado College on Saturday, followed by playing Southwestern University and Centenary College of Louisiana on Sunday.
