FIRST SERVE

The University of Dallas volleyball team will be making its home-debut in 2018 at the UD Classic. They will be playing host as they take on Mississippi University for Women on Friday (9/14) at 6:00 p.m. They will play again on Saturday (9/15) vs. Randall University at 12:00 p.m.

UD NOTES

-The Crusaders (4-3) are coming off a 3-1 weekend at the Millsaps/Belhaven Tournament as they managed two sweeps and a five-set win over host Belhaven University.

-Elizabeth Smith, who has 126 assists on the year has jumped Rebekah Hammond and is now fifth all-time in UD assists.  

-All nine freshman have seen valuable time on the court this season.

-Ellise Anable (Phoenix, Ariz.) is the team leader with 65 digs. Anable had a season best four aces in the win over Belhaven University and completed her first career double-double in that game, having 11 kills and 21 digs.

-Dayjah Whyte (Round Rock, Texas) is the early team leader pounding 64 kills, averaging 2.56 per set. She also has totaled 16 blocks on the defensive side of the net.

-Abigail Porras (El Paso, Texas) is tied with Anable for second on the team in blocks (50). She led the team with 11 kills in the win over LaGrange University in the final game of the Millsaps/Belhaven tournament.

-The Crusaders have totaled 270 kills on the season, averaging 10.8 per set.

-Dallas's 59 service aces on the season lead the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC).

A LOOK AT THE OPPONENTS

(Mississippi University for Women)

-The Owls (0-10) are a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA).

-Hailey McMurphey leads the team with 43 kills. She also has contributed 49 digs in the back row.

-Sadie Mitchell leads the team with 74 digs, averaging 2.55 per set.

- Mary Grace Prine leads the team with 78 assists.

-The Owls and Crusaders have never played against each other.

-The Saints (4-8) are a member of the Association of Christian College Athletics (ACCA) and the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA).

-Charity Burdette leads the team with 133 kills on the season, averaging 4.80 per set.

-Erika Styne has the team-lead with 178 assists.

-The team has 61 service aces on the campaign.

-The Crusaders hold a 1-0 all-time record against Randall University (formerly known as Hillsdale Free Will Baptist College). The two teams last met in 2012 when the Crusaders swept Hillsdale Baptist in Irving, Texas.
