THE LEAD
The University of Dallas volleyball team (11-14) wraps up the home portion of its schedule with Southwestern Adventist University on Tuesday at 7 p.m. The match originally had Dallas Christian College scheduled, but a cancellation over the weekend caused a switch in the opponents.
Dallas is 3-1 at the Maher Center, which includes winning four of the past five contests.
UD NOTES
- Mairin Guilfoyle (Roanoke, Va.) leads the Crusaders with 282 kills (3.32 K/Set).
- Mary Scholz (Fallon, Nev.) is second on the team with 227 kills and has logged double-digit performances in eight-of-10 games.
- Sarah Hughes (Fair Oaks, Calif.) is coming off a good week with 20 kills in the team's most recent pair of victories. This included a career-high 12 against Arlington Baptist College last Thursday at home.
- Jessie Koster (Sherwood, Ore.) remains the top player in NCAA Division III and Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) in digs (683) and digs-per-set (7.59).
- Elizabeth Smith (Broken Arrow, Okla.) is the team leader in assists with 741.
ABOUT THE KNIGHTS
Southwestern Adventist University is a member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) are located in Keene, Texas. Dallas is 8-2 overall against the Knights. The last time these programs met on the court was September 28, 2001.
SENIOR NIGHT
Prior to the first serve, the Crusaders will recognize four seniors that will be taking the court a final time in front of the home crowd. Making up this quartet includes: Koster, Guilfoyle, Anna Fazio (Beaumont, Texas), and Allison Seager (Dallas, Texas).
UP NEXT
Dallas will play its second SCAC cross-divisional of the season at Schreiner University on October 22-23. Besides playing the host school, UD also faces Top 10 ranked Southwestern University and Trinity University. Texas Lutheran University is also slated to play the Crusaders during that stretch.
