Volleyball falters in season opener versus University of Texas-Dallas
IRVING, Texas - To open their 2011 campaign, the University of Dallas volleyball team (0-1) fell 3-1 in four sets (25-23; 23-25; 9-25; and 18-25) to the visiting Lady Comets of the University of Texas-Dallas (UT-Dallas) on Thursday evening at the Maher Athletic Center.
Freshman middle blocker Emily Caples (Walnut Creek, Calif./Carondelet H.S.) led the Lady Crusaders with 11 kills, while amassing just two errors in 23 total attempts.
Meanwhile, junior setter Amanda Kitten (Slaton, Texas/Lubbock-Cooper H.S.) who set the Dallas single season record of 1,397 assists in 2010, totaled 32 against UT-Dallas.
Kitten and junior defensive specialist Emily Glick (Dallas, Texas/North Hills Prep) combined for Dallas' two serving aces.
As a team, the Lady Crusaders couldn't get much going, finishing the night with a .136 attack percentage.

Dallas looks to rebound on Friday, Sept. 2, when Sul Ross State University (SRSU) and Polytechnic Institute of NYU (NYU-P) roll into the Maher Athletic Center for the Dallas Volleyball Invitational.
The Lady Crusaders will play SRSU at 5:00 p.m., and NYU-P at 7:00 p.m. Both games will be video streamed online via collegetvticket.com.
