UD Volleyball Extends One Record, Ties Another

The University of Dallas volleyball team defeated Mississippi College and UT-Tyler in a tri-match in Tyler, TX. UD defeated Mississippi College in four sets: 25-23, 25-21, 17-25, 25-19 before taking down UT-Tyler in five sets: 25-23, 25-23, 21-25, 24-26, 15-7. In the process they extended the record for match wins to open a season and tied the UD record for consecutive match wins in a season.

Last weekend in Conway, AR at the Hendrix Fall Classic the Dallas volleyball team set the record for match wins to start a season after their seventh win. They team extended the record even more in Arkansas as they improved to 9-0. The previous record of six match wins to open a season was established when the 1998 and 2003 teams reached the mark. After tonight's two wins the team keeps raising the bar to 11 match wins to open a season. Their two wins tonight also tied the team with the 2006 squad that had 11 consecutive match wins.

Dallas has a chance to grab sole possession of the latter record tomorrow, September 18, when they travel to Richardson, TX for two afternoon matches. UD will face the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor at 1:00pm and tri-match host UT-Dallas at 3:00pm.
