Crusaders compete at Commerce, Wilgenbush Wins Again

The University of Dallas women's track and field team competed in the East Texas Invitational on Saturday in Commerce, Texas.  Senior Anna Wilgenbusch headlined the Crusaders performances yesterday with a with a PR in the 10,000 meter run, blowing up her previous best time by 1:26.98 with a performance of 38:04.20.  Wilgenbusch's fifth event win now makes five straight meets with an event win, and her second in the 10,000m.  The 10,000m record holder's event win puts her in a three way tie with Katie McIntyre and Colleen Slattery for third most all-time in the UD track program, and also give her 15 combined event wins between track and cross country, which is a UD record.

Freshman dual-sport athlete Caitlyn Smith also performed well with a wind-assisted 100 meter dash time of 12.94.  Smith also competed in the 200 meter dash, running sub-27 for the third time this year with a time of 26.96 and also ran in the 4x400 meters relay.

Freshman Alyssa Harris competed in the 4x400m relay, and ran a PR in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:23.77.

Freshmen Agnes Hernandez and Moncia Voltin completed the UD 4x400m quartet, and also competed in the 800 meters and the 5000 meter run, respectively.  Hernandez ran a time of 2:35.13, and Voltin PRed with a time of 21:50.91.

Junior Maria Pecha rounded out the Crusaders runners for the day, participating in the 1500m and ending with a time of 6:28.07.

Sophomore dual-sport athlete Kaycie Willis was one of two throwers to compete on Saturday, throwing in both shot put and discus throw.  Willis just missed scoring points in shot put with a put of 10.79m (35'5") to place ninth out of 25.  Willis also threw over 30 meters for the second time this year in discus with a throw of 30.21m (99'1").

Sophomore Vanessa Davila also competed in shot put but fouled out and did not register a mark.

The Crusaders will compete in their final tune up of the season next Friday, April 15, at the Warhawk Classic in Abilene, Texas.
