Hassink and Brunk breaks own Records to headline Marc Randle Classic Results
TYLER, Texas – The University of Dallas women's track and field team competed in its second competition this spring at the Marc Randle Classic hosted by University of Texas at Tyler. Diana Hassink (Tulsa, Okla.) broke her own record in the Shot Put (11.98m, 39'3.75") and claimed 2nd in the event.
Also re-breaking a record was Anna Brunk (Lemont, Ill.) in the Pole Vault with a 2.90m (9'6.25"). That bested her collegiate debut mark last week (2.65m, 8'8.25"). Classmate Hannah Green (Mission Viejo, Calif.) also improved in the pole vault with a 2.75m (9'0.25") score.
A trio of dual-sport athletes from the women's basketball team debuted as well, including newcomer Panda Green (Farmersville, Texas) in the 400 Meters.
Emma Kate Callahan (Overland Park, Kan.) led the Crusaders with a fifth place finish in the 800m (2:35.49), which was her first time in college to run that distance. A quartet of runners from UD participated in that event. Behind Callahan were cross country classmates Clare Hernandez (Dade City, Fla.) and Alondra Hurtado (Wichita Falls, Texas). The duo ran respective times of 2:46.07 and 2:53.98. Mary Korth (McKinney, Texas) rounded out the unit with her personal record (PR) 2:51.40.
In the 1500m the same trio of cross country dual-athletes mentioned above participated. Callahan (5:29.51) and Hernandez (5:38.99) finished atop their section. Amy Foote (Saint Paul, Minn.) was the other member from Dallas in that distance race. Hurtado made her first appearance this spring for that event.
Helen Onyenso (Oak Park, Ill.) and Shelby Waldron (Banning, Calif.) made their first appearances after the conclusion of women's basketball. These two have lettered in both programs before and were able to perform in the long jump and triple jump, respectively.
Hassink threw in the Shot Put, Hammer Throw (season debut), and Discus. Her record-breaking throw came in the third attempt, and bested her previous record of 11.80m (38'8.75") in Mines Last Chance on May 12th, 2017. Hassink threw a 33.82m result in the Hammer for eighth.
Jules Oliveti (Southlake, Texas) led three Dallas throwers with the farthest throw in Discus with a 31.40m result. Her score bested her debut last weekend by a 3.60-clip.

Dallas is off the next two weeks before starting a stretch of three meets in consecutive weeks. The War Hawk Classic, which is another competition from last season, will be held on March 23rd.
