Women's Track and Field Competes at Trinity Open Saturday

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – On Saturday, the University of Dallas women's track and field team competed in the Trinity Open. This meet featured fellow Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) foes Trinity University and Texas Lutheran University. Additionally, Division II Dallas Baptist University and Angelo State were also present.

This was the first competition for runners participating in the open races since the 2017 season debut for the Crusaders was an all-relays hosted at Texas Lutheran a week ago.

NOTABLE RESULTS

- Clare Basil (Arnold, Md.) cracked top 10 in the 800 Meters by running a 2:31.90 1. That time ranked 4th among division III runners. Additionally she was one second off her SCAC performance last spring and number three SCAC finisher at meet.

- Ellen Jennings (New Canaan, Conn.) clocked a 14.34 in the 100m

- Audrey Zohorsky (Ellicott City, Md.) and Alejandra Martinez (Friendswood, Texas) finished the 200m at 30.07 and 31.91 minutes. Martinez, who ran cross country in the fall, made her track debut.

- Mary Korth (McKinney, Texas) and Caroline Schemel (Greencastle, Pa.) crossed the line back-to-back at 5:55.60 and 6:09.18 in the 1500m. It was both of their first races in that event.

- Julia Ringel (Kansas City, Mo.) took Cora Keil's (LaCrosse, Wis.) spot in the 4x100m Relay due to illness.

- Hitting a personal record (PR) in her second collegiate meet was Diana Hassink (Tulsa, Okla.). Her 10.46m throw in the Shot Put helped the volleyball dual athlete break top 10 with 8th. She was 2nd SCAC finisher at meet.

- Hassink also threw in the Discus Throw and matched her distance from last weekend. Allison Federer (St. Louis, Mo.) hit a season best (18.14m).

- Katie Spellmeyer (Chesterfield, Mo.) threw a 19.69m in the Javelin Throw.
