McIntyre advances to Finals in Three Sprint Events; SCAC Results from Friday Posted

SEGUIN, Texas – The University of Dallas women's track and field team completed day one of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championships hosted at Texas Lutheran University. Junior Katie McIntyre (Sparta, N.J.) headlined the Lady Crusaders performance with a trio of qualifying scores. Freshman Bridget Kennedy (San Antonio, Texas) also claimed a top five finish in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase.

Trinity University headlines the team-lead with 72 points. Texas Lutheran follows with 58 and Southwestern University has 30.

NOTABLE RESULTS

- McIntyre qualified for Saturday's finals in the 100 Meter Dash, 200 Meter Dash, and 400 Meter Dash. McIntyre posted a 13.09, 26.31, and 1:00.69 in the respective events to clinch.

- McIntyre ranked third, the highest individual finish for UD, in the 400m. She notched sixth in the 200m.

- Kennedy competed in the Steeplechase for the second time this season, and posted a personal record (PR) 13:02.32 mark.

- Freshman Natalie Martinez (Plainfield, Ill.) qualified in her conference championship debut in the 400 Meter Hurdles with a 1:23.32 time.

- Senior Emma Polefko (Cypress, Texas) was a second shy of a PR in the 5000m, running a 5:28.74. She is coming off an injury from the past two months.

- Freshman Meghan Rearden (Knoxville, Tenn.) made her SCAC debut by shattering a PR in the 400m hurdles with a 1:28.70 result. That time bested her seed-time by three seconds.

- Sophomore Ashley Perez (San Diego, Calif.) threw a PR in the Shot Put with a 8.20m result. Junior Katie Spellmeyer (Chesterfield, Mo.) hit an 18.75m result in the Hammer Throw.

Dallas will complete the SCAC Championship Saturday. The top eight times, who qualified in the preliminaries will race in the finals on events that were not concluded today.
