Women's Track and Field Results at War Hawk Classic

ABILENE, Texas – The University of Dallas women's track and field team competed in the McMurry War Hawk Classic on a breezy day, Friday. Host school McMurry University claimed first as a team, with 170.5 points. Hardin-Simmons University and Texas Lutheran University claimed second and third, respectively scoring a 122 and 93.

Altogether, 12 teams suited up in this competition, which included Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) foes: Trinity University, Texas Lutheran University, and Southwestern University. Dallas tied ninth with 22 points.

NOTABLE RESULTS

- Senior Ruth Fritz (Boise, Idaho) and freshman Caroline Schemel (Greencastle, Pa.) each shaved 30 seconds off their previous 5000 Meters times for season-bests.

- Fritz led a trio of UD runners in the top 10 on the event with a 20:23.49 time for fifth. Schemel ranked eighth with a 20:32.65 mark, and freshman Bridget Kennedy (San Antonio, Texas) completed the unit with a 21:39.33 for ninth.

-  Freshman Clare Basil (Arnold, Md.) notched a pair of second place finishes in the 800m and 1500m to compile eight points apiece per event. Her totals were 2:31.35 and 5:15.35 in the respective events.

- Junior Katie McIntyre (Sparta, N.J.) ran a 27.06 second race in the 200m to claim eighth. She was only 0.4 seconds behind the SCAC leader in the 200 from Trinity at this meet. McIntyre slotted third on the SCAC Performance List on Track and Field Results Reporting System (TFRRS).

- In the field events, junior Katie Spellmeyer (Chesterfield, Mo.) completed her season debut in the Hammer Throw and set a personal record (PR) for a 22.58m distance. She added a 20.03m result in the Javelin Throw.

UP NEXT

Dallas competes in the Baker Relays at Baldwin City, Kansas, on April 2. This is the second all relays competition this spring for the Crusaders.
