Women's Track and Field sets 3 School Records at TLU Bulldog Relays

SEGUIN, Texas – The University of Dallas women's track and field team competed in the TLU Bulldog Relays on Saturday. The Lady Crusaders would break a school record in the 4x800 meter relay, topping last year's mark by nearly 30 seconds. Several other Dallas athletes made strides with personal records (PR) and debuts.

NOTABLE RESULTS

- Freshman Bridget Kennedy (San Antonio, Texas), senior Ruth Fritz (Boise, Idaho), freshman Clare Basil (Arnold, Md.), and freshman Caroline Schemel (Greencastle, Pa.) were part of the record breaking 4x800m with a time of 10:35.22 minutes.

- Kennedy opened the 4x800 with a 2:33 split. She ran a season best mile for the Distance Medley Relay with a 5:35 minute time in the 1600m leg.

- Basil ran a season best in the opening leg of the 4x800m with a 2:27.

- Dallas also set new school marks in the 800m Sprint Relay and 4x1600m Relay.

- Running in first record breaking event included: sophomore Rose Forget (St. Louis, Mo.), junior Maggie Dombrowski (Concord, Calif.), sophomore Allison Federer (St. Louis, Mo.), and freshman Simone Loel (Phoenix, Ariz.).

- Schemel, Basil, Fritz, and Kennedy raced in the 4x1600 for their second record to earn as a group in the competition.

- Junior Katie McIntyre (Sparta, N.J.) notched a pair of season bests splits in the 1600 Medley Relay and 4x400 Relay. She ran a 26.5 second in the 200m split of the Medley and 61.9 split in the 4x400 event.

- Sophomore Natalie Martinez (Plainfield, Ill.) hit two PRs with a 29.5 as part of the 4x200m and 69.0 in the 4x400.

- On the field, sophomore Grace Conti (Boxford, Mass.) threw a PR in the Javelin with a 15.10m result. Classmate Marielena Herrera (Bryan, Texas) made her season debut in the discus throw.

Dallas enjoys two weeks off and will be back in action on March 25 at the McMurry War Hawk in Abilene, Texas.
