Women's Track and Field Trinity Open Results on Saturday

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The University of Dallas women's track and field team competed in the Trinity Open this past weekend. It was one of the larger competitions, as all but one NCAA Division III (UT-Tyler) program from Texas competed. Freshman and previous SCAC Athlete-of-the-Week Clare Basil (Arnold, M.D.) cracked the top 10 and a couple field athletes made solid season debuts.

NOTABLE RESULTS

- Basil notched seventh in the 800m out of 19 competitors on the race. She is consistent, getting clocked on the same time for the second straight week (2:30 minutes).

- Basil added a 13th overall finish in her first 1500m with a 5:12. The field of opponents in that race was 39.

- Freshman Bridget Kennedy (San Antonio, Texas) ran a personal record (PR) in the 5k for 11th out of 30th place. She was consistent, going 1:34/1:35 400m splits throughout the entire race.

- Sophomore Ashley Perez (San Diego, Calif.) threw a PR in the Shot Put with a 7.48m throw.

- Junior Katie Spellmeyer (Chesterfield, Mo.) made her first Javelin throw of the year, and logged a 20.24m result. That was .1m behind a PR.
