Women's Track and Field complete SCAC Championships Saturday

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The University of Dallas women's track and field team completed the finals of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Championship on Saturday. Dallas took fifth place as a team while Trinity University prevailed with the title off of 248 points accumulated.

Individually Dallas got solid times, with junior Ruth Fritz (Boise, Idaho) claiming a pair of sixth place finishes in the 1500 Meter and 10,000 Meter. Fritz earned a personal best 5:11.76 score in the 1500M, to go with her 43:47.31 minute mark in the 10,000M on the first day.

Junior Emma Polkfko (Cypress, Texas) followed with a career-best 2:31.67 minute time in the 1500m to claim 8th in the standings. 

In the 800 Meter, seniors Colleen Slattery (Middle Ridge, Wis.) and Danielle Pajak (Pagosa Springs, Colo.) finished sixth and eighth place, respectively, with times of 2:29.05 and 2:31.67. 

Hitting personal records (PR) for UD included: freshmen Ellen Jennings and Eva McLaurin in the same event. The rookie duo posted times of 2:42.94 and 2:45.58, respectively in their first conference championships. 

Other PR's hit by the Navy and White Slattery on her portion of the 4x400 Meter with a 64.54, and sophomore Katie Spellmeyer (Chesterfield, Mo.) in the Hammer Throw with a 22.14 Meter toss. 

Senior Clare Myers (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) took seventh place with a 20:29.74 effort in the 5000 Meter event.

In day one of the SCAC Championship, leading the Lady Crusaders in multiple preliminary competitions was sophomore Katie McIntyre (Sparta, N.J.); who garnered a pair of qualifying times in the 200 Meter and 400 Meter, respectively, with a 27.27 and 1:04.36. McIntyre placed seventh and eighth on the two heats.

Dallas has wrapped up the spring campaign for first-year Head Coach Matthew Barber.
