Results from Walt Disney World Track and Field Open

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – The University of Dallas women's track and field team claimed two school records en route to a fourth place finish out of 14 programs this past weekend at the Walt Disney World Track and Field Open.

The women's sprint medley school record was shattered for the first time since the 1999 campaign. Notching the feat were senior Sarah Valdovinos (Damascus, Ore.), sophomore Lizzie Depew (Grove City, PA), senior Danielle Pajak (Pagosa Springs, Colo.), and senior Colleen Slattery (Middle Ridge, Wis.) with a time of 4:45.27.

Another quartet of players for Dallas set a historic mark on the 4X1500 Meter Relay with a time of 22:27.77. The athletes that helped hit the score included: senior Clare Myers (Grosse Pointe, Mich.), Pajak, junior Emma Polefko (Cypress, Texas), and Slattery.

Both records were notched during the first day of the track and field open.

Junior Ruth Fritz (Boise, Idaho) led the individual finishes by winning first in the 1500 Meter event. She added to her nice weekend with a fourth place finish in the 10,000 Meter.

Myers claimed second place ranking in the 5000 Meter Run with a time of 20:11.11. Also notching a top 10 individual time was Depew with eighth place in the High Hurdles at 17.28 seconds.

Dallas returns to the outdoor track next weekend on March 28 at the Oklahoma Baptist University Invitational in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
