Depew breaks school record in 100 meter hurdles; Highlights solid finishes for Women's Track and Field

BULLARD, Texas – The University of Dallas women's track and field team notched solid results in the Marc Randle Classic at Tyler, Texas, on Friday.

Sophomore Lizzie Depew (Grove City, Pa.) headlined nine top 10 event finishes for the Lady Crusaders with a school record and personal best on the 100 meter hurdles. She accumulated a time of 16.19 and claimed second place, which marked her highest personally on the campaign and UD's that day.

The other personal record for Dallas was from senior Sarah Valdovinos (Damascus, Ore.) with a fourth place finish on the 100 hurdles at 16.5.

Other top 10 ranked completions included: senior Colleen Slattery (Middle Ridge, Wis.) on the 800 meter with a 2:33 minutes for fourth, junior Ruth Fritz (Boise, Idaho) on 1500 meters at 5:16 to gather fourth. Fritz notched ninth on the 5000 meter by racing 20:10.

Senior Clare Myers (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) secured fifth and seventh on the 1500 meter and 5000 meter with respective scores of 5:18, and 19:28.

Depew, Slattery, sophomore Katie McIntyre (Sparta, N.J.), and senior Amy Sullivan (Niantic, Conn.) teamed up in the 4x400 meter relay to nab fourth as a unit.

Another quartet of athletes that involved: senior Michelle DeRoche, Depew, McIntyre, and Valdovinos reflected in the same place finish on the 4x100 meter relay.

Dallas will be competing next on March 20 in the Walt Disney World Track and Field Open at Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
