Track and Field results from Trinity Open

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The University of Dallas women's track and field team completed the Trinity Open on chilly Saturday afternoon, as the rain steadily poured down.

Senior Colleen Slattery (Middle Ridge, Wis.) won the 3000 meter Steeplechase with a time of 13:16 minutes. It was her first event win and the team's first to rank at the top in the second meet of the campaign.

A trio of Lady Crusaders finished in the top five on the 5000 meter race, which included: senior Clare Myers (Grosse Pointe, Mich.), junior Ruth Fritz (Boise, Idaho), and freshman Angela Moore (Austin, Texas). Their times were 19:33, 20:13, and 20:39, respectively.

The 1500 meter saw Fritz and Myers claim eighth and ninth overall with scores of 5:22 and 5:27. The duo won a respective first and second in their individual heat.

Also rounding out the top 10 finishers for UD were sophomores Katie McIntyre (Sparta, N.J.) with seventh on the 200 meter at 28 minutes and Lizzy Depew (Grove City, Pa.) in the 100 hurdles with eighth.

On the field, sophomore Katie Spellmeyer (Chesterfield, Mo.) took 7th in the Javelin throw with a 20.34 meter toss.

Dallas travels on March 6 to the UT-Tyler Invite hosted in Tyler, Texas.
