Deras Shatters UD 800 Meter Record in San Antonio

Freshman middle distance runner Megan Deras (Omaha, NE/Duchesne Academy) broke the school record in the 800 meter race by running a 2:24.52 in the Trinity Invitational in San Antonio, TX over the weekend. She finished in fourth place, two and a half seconds behind an unattached runner. The two other girls finishing in front of Deras were from NCAA DII powerhouse Angelo State, Deras at number four, and runners from NCAA DI UT-San Antonio and NCAA DIII Trinity University over two seconds behind her. The record prior to Deras breaking it by nearly four seconds was held by Bridget Sercer who ran a 2:28.45 at the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Championships in Elsah, IL on the third of May.
