Late Push Not Enough for Dallas vs Southwestern

October 20, 2023

GEORGETOWN, Texas - The University of Dallas women's soccer team lost their conference match against Southwestern University 2-1 on Friday, snapping a three-game winning streak.  They fall to 5-8-1 on the year and 3-2 in conference play.

The Pirates enjoyed the lion's share of chances, outshooting the Crusaders 13-4 on the night.  Though Andrea Coppi had the first chance on goal in the match, testing the keeper with a low shot in the 11th minute, Southwestern opened the scoring in the 14th minute with a goal by Breana Trevino, her third of the season.

Haley Cline had the final chance of the half for Dallas in the 39th minute, but her shot sailed over the crossbar.

It only took Southwestern two minutes in the second half to double their lead, as Sydney Boswell scored her second goal of the season to put the Pirates up 2-0.

Claire Reed had a chance to halve the deficit in the 59th minute, but failed to hit the target.  She did find the back of the net in the 88th minute, scoring her third goal in three straight matches to make it 2-1, but it was too, too late as Southwestern closed out the final two minutes to secure the win.
