Crusaders Surge Past Centenary

IRVING, Texas - The University of Dallas women's soccer team won their final regular season game, defeating Centenary College 3-0 to improve to 9-5-1 on the year.

The Crusaders were the much better side from start to finish, but had little to show for it in the first half.  Despite dominating the play, the Ladies defended well enough to deny the Crusaders of any real clear-cut scoring oppourtunities.  That all changed very quickly in the second half, however, as Maddie Rodriguez put the Crusaders up 1-0 not even thirty seconds into the half.  The Ladies were still very much in the game, but UD's defense was simply impenetrable today, as Kaitlyn Vess was hardly troubled at all between the sticks.

Dallas doubled their lead in the 72nd minute from a corner kick, Alyssa Mencacci finsihing off the move after a flick on by Britney ZapataBekah Gonzalez made it 3-0 and effectively closed the book on the match, burying her first goal into the back of the net from a penalty kick.  The Crusaders have cememnted themselves as the #3 seed in the SCAC Tournament with a conference record of 5-2-1.
