SCAC Women's Soccer All-Tournament Released; 5 Crusaders Represent Program

IRVING, Texas - On Friday, the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Women's Soccer All-Tournament Team was released as part of the weekly conference release. The University of Dallas had five players named to the All-Tournament Team. This quintet of players were: Andrea Coppi (Keller, Texas), May Lien Le (Katy, Texas), Alyssa Mencacci (League City, Texas), Macey Henderson (San Antonio, Texas) and Avery Seaman (Bedford, Texas).

Dallas tied with Trinity University with the most players on the 2020-2021 All-Tournament Team with five, while Southwestern University had two players make the team and Texas Lutheran had one.

Coppi makes her first appearance on the SCAC All-Tournament team in her first opportunity. The freshman from Keller, Texas, scored all three of UD's goals in the SCAC tournament. Coppi started with a pair of goals against quarterfinal opponent the University of St. Thomas, scoring the decisive game-winning goal in the 71st minute to put Dallas ahead of St. Thomas 2-1. Coppi came up big again in the semifinal against Southwestern when she scored a golden goal with less than two minutes left in second overtime to avoid going to a penalty shootout and won the game 1-0. Coppi three tournament goals were the only goals she scored all season. That amount of goals in a single SCAC Tournament was an all-time most for a UD player an tied the mark for goals in SCAC Tournament games with Nicole Johnson. Coppi led the team for the season with goals and points with the aforementioned three goals and six points. She also was tied with teammate Mencacci for game-winning goals, and had seven shots-on-goal in 10 shot attempts for the best shot-on-goal ratio of any Crusader this season with more than five shots. Coppi played in all nine games this season and started in eight.

Le makes her first appearance on the SCAC All-Tournament team with this year's selection. Le is a three-time, All-Conference selection, twice All-First Team and once All-Second Team. On top of that, Le is the recently minted SCAC Defensive Player of the Year. Le helped anchor a defense that only allowed multiple opponent goals twice all season, which included four shutouts. Le's defensive efforts helped quell the rampage of Centenary College of Louisiana who had started the season 6-0 and out-scoring opponents 16-1 during that span, and in mid-March Dallas handed the Ladies their first loss in a 1-0 game. Le, along with her defensive prowess, for the season had three shots and one assist for one point. The one assist came in the SCAC Tournament against St. Thomas, where she assisted Coppi's first goal to put Dallas up 1-0 against the Celts of St. Thomas in the quarterfinal. Le was also one-of-eight Crusaders to start all nine games of the 2020-2021 season.

Mencacci makes her first appearance on the SCAC All-Tournament team with this year's selection. Mencacci was twice named All-Conference with one First Team award and one Second Team Award. She was also the SCAC Newcomer-of-the-Year in 2019. Mencacci's offensive presence aided the Crusaders to a 6-3 record and .667 winning percentage for the team's best winning percentage since 2005 when UD went 13-3 and winning percentage of .813. Mencacci led the Crusaders in both shots and shots on goal with 22 and nine, and scored two goals for four points, both of which were game winning goals against Austin College and the University of St. Thomas. Mencacci now has six career game winning goals. Additionally, UD's record in games when Mencacci scores improved to 9-0-1 in the two seasons Mencacci has been a part of the team. Mencacci was also one-of-eight Crusaders to start all nine games of the 2020-2021 season.

Henderson makes her first appearance on the SCAC All-Tournament team in her first opportunity. She also was named All-Conference Second Team this season. Henderson earned four clean sheets this season and was pushed to the limit in a 1-0 overtime loss against eventual conference champions Trinity. In the game against Trinity, Henderson had a season high 16 saves and kept the Tigers off the board for 95 minutes, the longest Trinity had been held scoreless up to that point this season. The only time longer was a few weeks later against Centenary in which the Tigers were held scoreless for over 109 minutes. Henderson was third in the SCAC in both shutouts and saves with the aforementioned four shutouts and 55 saves on the year. Henderson was also one of only two goalies in the SCAC to play in every minute of every game, and was also one of eight Crusaders to start all nine games of the 2020-2021 season.

Seaman makes her first appearance on the SCAC All-Tournament team in her first opportunity. Taking her place in the Crusader midfield, Seaman supported Dallas on both sides of the ball. On the defensive side Seaman helped contribute to the four season shutouts by UD's defense, which included the semifinal shutout against Southwestern, and on the offensive side she was one of UD's best all year.  Seaman was tied for second in both goals and points this year with two and five, and had one assist and one game-winning goal, which came in the UD season opener against Schreiner University.  On top of that, Seaman had the second best shots-on-goal ratio on the team with eight in twelve shot attempts.  Seaman was also one-of-eight Crusaders to start all nine games of the 2020-2021 season.

UD's run into the SCAC Championship Match is the best the Crusaders have done under head coach Lexi Stinson, and is the second time UD has gotten to that game since 2012 when Dallas lost to Trinity in the final 1-0.
