Duran Named to the 2019 SCAC All-Tournament Team

GEORGETOWN, Texas – On Wednesday, the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Women's Soccer All-Tournament Team was released as part of the weekly conference release. The University of Dallas placed Elisa Duran (Pomona, Calif.) on the team.

Centenary College had two representatives, but the spots were dominated by SCAC Regular Season Champions Trinity University and SCAC Tournament Champions Southwestern University. The two played to a penalty kick shootout after a scoreless battle and the Pirates captured their first SCAC Title on their own field with a 5-4 win on the PKs.

Duran made the All-Tournament squad a second straight season. She came up with what would be the game-winning goal for the Crusaders in a 2-0 victory over fifth-seeded Texas Lutheran University in the SCAC Quarterfinals. The senior midfielder took a free kick from the far right side and was able to sneak it across the box and get a favorable bounce that was out of reach of the TLU goalkeeper. That goal broke a scoreless match in the 68th minute and propelled Dallas to consecutive SCAC Semifinals appearances.

Duran ended her senior campaign with four goals to tie a personal-best in back-to-back campaigns. Her eight points ranked second on the Crusaders behind SCAC Newcomer-of-the-Year Alyssa Mencacci (League City, Texas), who had the other goal in the SCAC postseason game. Two of Duran's goals counted as game-winners this season and she finished with four in her four-year letter-winning career. Duran also played the most matches in an individual career for the UD program with 84.

The Crusaders finished 10-7-1 on the year, marking a seven-win improvement by third-year head coach Lexi Stinson's squad. The total victories matched the highest in a season since 2014.
